HIVE to support Armenian startups with global goals

HIVE Investment Fund announced the launch of HIVE Seed Fund initiative; in its framework, the Fund will make investments and cooperate with Armenian startups from different parts of the world.
From Silicon Valley to Armenia - the HIVE Seed Fund will focus on the startups that create revolutional technological solutions, aim to have a team in Armenia, and solve global challenges.

HIVE Director Glen Dalakian told Itel.am  that HIVE team will work individually with the chosen startups and help them obtain necessary resources. 

According to him, startups will be invited to a live pitch for initial consideration after applying for the investment program. There are no deadlines, applications can be submitted at any time.

“Owing to the new initiative, HIVE will continue to not only support Armenian entrepreneurs around the world, but also offer them access to its network of world-class talent and advisors. HIVE also promotes innovation and entrepreneurship among the next generation of Armenians through events and workshops,” noted Glen Dalakian.

At present, HIVE works with a number of Armenian startups, including Wakie, CodeFights, OutChat, News Deeply, Discotech and Lionsharp.

HIVE is a seed and early stage investment fund that supports Armenian entrepreneurs through funding and operational support, in order to build global companies. HIVE is a Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Foundation initiative.

PM Visits Armenian Tablet Manufacturing Company

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan visited Technology and Science Dynamics R&D Company, which is operating in Alliance free economic zone and produces ArmTab tablets and ArmPhone mobile phones. The Prime Minister toured the company inspecting the production process and getting acquainted with the development plans.
The Premier was told that in terms of quality the tablets are in no way inferior to the ones manufactured by world-famous brands. Equipped with modern systems and applications, they have a more affordable market price.

Last year Technology and Science Dynamics launched a program of providing schools with ArmTab tablets. Some 700 tablets have already been made available under the program which is to be continued throughout this year.
The Company was said to be selling its products both at home and abroad. Negotiations are underway with Armenian telecom companies over selling the products on the retail market of Armenia.
Technology and Science Dynamics is cooperating with foreign partners to develop research projects. Currently the company has 117 employees, and is expected to gradually increase this number.
Talking to news reporters, Prime Minister Abrahamyan hailed the company, noting that he is pleased to say that it has a great future. Hovik Abrahamyan emphasized that the Government will continue to support the IT sector, considering it a priority. The Premier said to have instructed the Ministry of Economy to provide continued support and discuss each project, if necessary. The Head of Government expressed confidence that the domestic IT sector has a great future and, therefore, it will be the focus of his government.
Note that in order to have highly qualified professionals in the IT sector, the Government has for a while now been founding engineering and robotics labs and workshops in schools.

Dutch investors want to develop leather industry in Armenia

Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received today two Dutch businessman of Armenian descent Aram and Yervand Haykazi, who, according to the government press office are interested in the implementation of long-term investment projects in Armenia. More exactly, they want to invest in the production of leather goods.

Abrahamyan was said to have welcomed the readiness of the Dutch businessmen to invest in their homeland country saying the government is ready to assist in the implementation of mutually beneficial investment projects, which will contribute to the growth of economic activity and create new jobs.
